Man’s Closet Makeover Part III
Have you enjoyed following my closet project so far? I hope so! Make sure you check out Part I and Part II so you can view the entire process. In this post, I am sharing the final reveal, plus what I did with the following materials and tools
As I was finishing up the closet, what remained without a space were a few belts and hats. My husband is pretty minimalist when it comes to clothing (like me), so I didn’t need to devote a ton of space to these. I could have put them on the bottom shelf with the shoes, but the design part of me wanted to do something fun and different. And remembering I said I wouldn’t spend money, led me to his work space in the garage to start thinking creatively. And I decided to build a hat/belt rack with a piece of pallet wood, and long 3″ screws. Yep, that’s all I had to work with!
First, I put the screws in the wood, spaced evenly across the board. And I screwed them in until they came through the back, and then pulled them back through until they were flush with the back of the board. I didn’t get a picture of this part, but this will give you an idea
After all the screws were in, I drilled holes in the wall (one for each side) and inserted anchors, and put screws right through the front of the board to attach it to the wall.
That’s it. Simple and quick. Here’s what it looks like with the hats & belts:
The first thing he did, after telling me that he liked it, was grab and attempt to wiggle the board to see how secure it was. And might I say, he was quite impressed with my work! I am still thinking about what I want to hang above it. I like the rustic look of the board and have some ideas formulating as to what will make this look really great 🙂 What do you think?
And as for the closet? It was a nice surprise for him. There are many ways to encourage a man, and this is one!
Here’s a final Before/After of the closet:
I hope this has inspired you to revamp your closet space. After all, you should feel good when you’re selecting your clothes for the day! You’re worth it 😉
